The Edge of the Sky | Oir Nan Speur is a beautiful new ‘analogue theatre show’ in which two astronomers try to unravel a story from the past following a cataclysmic event. It will premiere on February 18th, 2022 at the Hebridean Dark Skies festival, on the Isle of Lewis.

Performed in English and Gaelic, it is a uniquely Hebridean adaptation of my book, in which I attempt to explain the mysteries of the Universe with only the 1000 most commonly used words in English.

The Edge of the Sky | Oir Nan Speur is adapted and directed by Laura Cameron-Lewis, and stars Elspeth Turner and Daibhidh Walker. It is produced by sruth-mara and supported by funding from Creative Scotland and Bòrd Na Gàidhlig.

I always felt that the language in my book would greatly benefit from being spoken aloud. In her exciting adaptation, Laura Cameron Lewis has added a new layer of magic by introducing a dialogue between English and Gaelic, between the past and the future, and between science and imagination. I cannot think of a better way to appreciate and be awed by the power of the All-There-Is!
